DONBASS WAR, UKROP POLITICS AND THE BIG PICTURE
2017 started pretty quietly, but has heated up considerably. The situation remains very tense. Ukrop Army positions have been reinforced with troops, tanks, artillery and even 8 more Tochka-U missiles.
After the heavy attacks of the last week of January and culminating in the massive attacks of the night of Feb 2nd-3rd, it has been relatively quiet in Donetsk city center the last few days, though battles continue along the Front from Mariupol to Lugansk.
The latest series of provocations by Ukraine are a desperate last ditch effort by Poroshenko to draw the Novorussian Armed Forces (NAF) into a counter-attack. This has not occurred, and there are several good reasons why.
First, there are 100,000 ukrop nazi soldiers along the Front. Military doctrine dictates the need for 3 to 1 advantage to make a successful assault. NAF has about 30,000 soldiers on the Front. So, the situation remains static as long as we defend, but becomes suicidal if we attack. We value the lives of our soldiers and civilians, and we thirst for justice for the continued war crimes of Kiev regime, but we must think and act strategically. Our day will come.
It appears that Poroshenko's days are numbered. His political coalition requires 226 members, of which it had 223, and from which 11 have recently resigned, with more indicating that they soon will as well. With the loss of the coalition, snap elections for Ukraine Rada (parliament) must be held, before the currently scheduled elections in 2018. These 11 deputies are currently being threatened with prison if they do not retract their resignations. Poroshenko wants to continue and escalate the war to prevent special elections from being called and held, because he would certainly lose. This is the "democracy" that Obama, Nuland, McCain and Maidan have brought to Ukraine. War in order to prevent elections...
Poroshenko has been kicked to the curb by the new US administration, and is being abandoned by his erstwhile EU "allies". This is a good start. Without massive military and economic support from the West, it is impossible to ever even imagine a ukrop victory in Donbass. Now, Poroshenko, like a cornered mad dog, is flailing about, chasing his tail and trying to salvage his political power, another impossibility.
He is not the least concerned about Donbass civilians being murdered on his orders, or even how many of his own soldiers are killed (approx. 100 in Avdeevka in the last week) when NAF artillery returns fire and destroys the ukrop artillery that is bombing residential areas. He knows an exit from the Presidential Palace in Kiev can only lead to a prison cell, and he is willing to destroy all of Ukraine to avoid that. And even the fools and charlatans in Western Ukraine are beginning to understand this. Either Ukraine is doomed or Poroshenko is. They will decide to save themselves sooner or later. And the sooner, the better.
Trump's policy seems to be a hands off approach, and let the cards fall where they may. He will let Ukraine be Putin's problem, and deal with it as he sees fit. Putin's policy will continue to be what it has been throughout the conflict - patience and strict adherence to international law. As Sun Tzu wrote in The Art of War, "The greatest warrior is not the one who wins every battle, it is the one who wins without fighting." Putin knows this well, and if Trump is as smart as he thinks he is, he knows it too.
These last few days have been very hard, and there are probably more hard days ahead, but the outcome is no longer in doubt. Donbass will stand, and eventually all of Ukraine will be de-nazified and brought back into the Russian sphere of influence, where it has always been, and where it belongs.
The criminal ambition of Western Neo-cons to rule the world has been defeated. On the battlefields of Donbass and Syria, heroic people stood their ground and turned back the tide of 21st Century fascism. The war will continue, but with the political defeat of Clinton and the military defeat of fascist proxy forces in Syria and Donbass, the outcome is clear. The modern day nazis have been defeated, but not eradicated. They will retreat, regroup, and begin scheming on new ways to achieve their nefarious goal of world domination. What they could not achieve through power politics and military might, they will now try to achieve through deception and guile.
We have reached a turning point in this war, like Stalingrad in World War II, but this war is not over yet, and the enemies of Humanity are already planning for the next one. All good people in the Human Family must maintain their solidarity and their vigilance. Our future depends on it.
